Specification & Size Chart

Stainless steel round bars and rods are commonly used in a variety of applications such as construction, automotive, aerospace, and more. Here are some of the most common grades and specifications for stainless steel round bars and rods:

  1. Grade 304: This is the most common type of stainless steel and is often referred to as "18-8" stainless steel due to its composition of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. It has excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and good formability. It is commonly used in food processing equipment, kitchen appliances, and chemical processing equipment.

  2. Grade 316: This is a higher grade of stainless steel, also known as "marine grade" stainless steel due to its excellent corrosion resistance in saltwater environments. It contains 16% chromium, 10% nickel, and 2% molybdenum. It is commonly used in marine and coastal applications, as well as in the pharmaceutical and medical industries.

  3. Grade 410: This is a martensitic stainless steel that contains 11.5-13.5% chromium. It has good corrosion resistance and high strength, but is not as ductile as other stainless steel grades. It is commonly used in cutlery, surgical instruments, and valves.

  4. Grade 416: This is a free-machining grade of stainless steel that contains sulfur, which improves its machinability. It has good corrosion resistance and is often used in applications where machinability is a priority, such as in bolts and screws.

  5. Grade 440C: This is a high carbon martensitic stainless steel that is often used in applications where high hardness and wear resistance are required, such as in bearings and cutting tools. In addition to the grades of stainless steel, round bars and rods come in various specifications such as diameter, length, tolerance, and surface finish.

Carbon Steel Round Bars.

In addition to the grades of carbon steel, round bars and rods come in various specifications such as diameter, length, tolerance, and surface finish. The diameter of carbon steel round bars can range from a few millimeters to several inches, and the length can range from a few feet to several meters. Tolerance and surface finish specifications depend on the application requirements and can vary widely.

CU-NI Round Bars.

Copper-nickel (Cu-Ni) round bars and rods are known for their excellent corrosion resistance, especially in seawater applications. Here are some of the most common grades and specifications for Cu-Ni round bars and rods:

  1. Alloy 90/10: This is a copper-nickel alloy that contains 90% copper and 10% nickel. It has excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and is often used in marine applications such as shipbuilding, offshore oil and gas platforms, and desalination plants.

  2. Alloy 70/30: This is a copper-nickel alloy that contains 70% copper and 30% nickel. It has good corrosion resistance and higher strength than alloy 90/10. It is commonly used in heat exchangers, condensers, and piping systems.

  3. Alloy 706: This is a copper-nickel-iron alloy that contains 90% copper, 10% nickel, and 1.4% iron. It has excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and is often used in marine and offshore applications.

  4. Alloy 715: This is a copper-nickel alloy that contains 70% copper, 29% nickel, and 1% iron. It has good corrosion resistance and high strength, making it ideal for use in seawater applications such as shipbuilding, offshore oil and gas platforms, and desalination plants.

In addition to the grades of Cu-Ni, round bars and rods come in various specifications such as diameter, length, tolerance, and surface finish. The diameter of Cu-Ni round bars can range from a few millimeters to several inches, and the length can range from a few feet to several meters. Tolerance and surface finish specifications depend on the application requirements and can vary widely. Cu-Ni round bars and rods can be supplied in both annealed and cold-worked conditions, depending on the intended use

Specification & Size Chart

Carbon steel round bars and rods are often used in construction, manufacturing, and industrial applications. Here are some of the most common grades and specifications for carbon steel round bars and rods:

  1. Grade 1018: This is a low-carbon steel that has good machinability, weldability, and formability. It contains 0.18% carbon and is often used in bolts, screws, and gears.

  2. Grade 1045: This is a medium-carbon steel that has good strength and impact resistance. It contains 0.45% carbon and is commonly used in shafts, axles, and machinery parts.

  3. Grade 1144: This is a resulfurized steel that has excellent machinability and higher strength than 1018 or 1045. It contains 0.40% carbon and is often used in gears, pins, and fittings.

  4. Grade 12L14: This is a leaded steel that has excellent machinability due to the addition of lead. It contains 0.15% carbon and is commonly used in screw machine parts.

  5. Grade 4140: This is a high-strength, low-alloy steel that contains chromium, molybdenum, and manganese. It has good toughness, wear resistance, and fatigue strength, making it ideal for applications such as gears, shafts, and axles.
